About Me (Before the Challenge)

My name is Becca.  The photo below was self taken a couple days ago.  The shocked face on the right is of disbelief that I was actually graduating and that it was finally over -- it was a tough two years in nursing school, that's for sure!  I don't know what this challenge will do to me over the next year, but this blog will document all the changes.  This post will go unchanged and will mark me at the preparation phase of this challenge which is set to begin next month (June 2013).

The goal is to challenge myself to 100 personal items for one year. The year happens to be the 29th year of my life. I'm excited, scared, anxious, and nervous to see if
1) I can do it for an entire year and
2) What lessons I will learn throughout the challenge.

There are three main philosophies I want to keep in mind throughout this challenge:
1) Minimalism
2) Open-Mindedness
3) Self-Improvement

Minimalism

Living an uncluttered and simple life. Moving away from the attachment of material things. Understanding that living a frugal life does not equate to a dull one. Seeing the richness in life by doing away with unnecessary possessions, distractions, clutter, or waste. Click...

Open-Mindedness

"i would rather have a mind opened by wonder than closed by belief." Gerry Spence. Thinking openly and embracing new ideas. Letting go of control, experiencing changes, making yourself vulnerable, making mistakes, strengthening yourself, gaining confidence, and being honest. For some, being open-minded is easy and for others, a challenge; the effort is well worth the benefits. Positively Present...

Self-Improvement

“The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them, you immediately begin to create momentum. The most important rules that I ever adopted to help me in achieving my goals were those I learned from a very successful man who taught me to first write down the goal, and then to never leave the site of setting a goal without first taking some form of positive action toward its attainment.” Tony Robbins.
